Time for Fall TV season

The repeats are over and we can once again see new episodes of our favorite TV shows. Tonight it’s The Big Bang Theory (I’m loving Kathy Bates and Teller as Amy Fowler’s parents, he speaks!), Bull (I like how they get into the minds of the jury), and then there is Dancing with The Stars which I record to fast forward through the backstories. I just want to see the dancing. I will give The Good Doctor another try. It started strong last season, but then I started losing interest. I normally don’t watch all of these on the day they air. I do a lot of recording. One show I do watch when it airs is This Is Us. That will be tomorrow and I will be watching it in my hotel room with my box of tissue.

I always wanted to work on a sitcom, but I ended up working in television production and television news for 20 years. Through TV news I was able to experience living in different cities as I checked out different stations. I spent three years in Las Vegas (KLAS), two years in Portland, OR (KOIN), a few months working on Good Day Sacramento (I didn’t like living in the city and I think it was just too soon after my mom passed away and I needed family around). I kept going back to my hometown of Salinas to work at (KION/KCBA). I enjoyed my job and the crew at KLAS, and the city was fun. There was lots of free entertainment through work. I often received passes for the various shows at the casinos and I made friends with the performers at Starlight Express. I missed my family though and being able to make a quick trip to the ocean. Portland was another fun experience, until the snow came then it wasn’t fun driving to and from work, and navigating the black ice in the middle of the night (I worked on the morning show). My coworkers were great. This California girl couldn’t take the snow, but I did love the drive to the coast in the Fall. The leaves turned those vibrant shades orange, red, yellow.

Time to get back to Bull and the other new episodes of the Fall season. I miss The Middle, but I’m looking forward to the return of Murphy Brown.

  1. I am looking forward to checking out Murphy Brown, as well. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I do enjoy film and character driven series.

  2. I love how diverse you are! I would think working in TV would be so stressful. Or too many divas...IDK. I'm excited about The Voice and seeing if New Amsterdam is good. I love some good doctor shows!
